2013 Spring Consumer Protection Seminar Registration

Final Conference Agenda

The National Association of Attorneys General is hosting its annual Spring Consumer Protection Seminar at the Westin Georgetown Hotel, located at 2350 M Street, NW, in Washington, DC. The planning committee has developed a promising agenda, which is expected to include relevant and timely information about privacy issues and recent disclosure initiatives. Please note that on this website you may register as either a government attendee or as a public attendee by clicking on your appropriate registrant type below.

The Sunday, Monday morning, and Tuesday sessions are closed; these sessions are open to only Attorneys General and their staff. The closed portion of this seminar will begin at 12 Noon on Sunday May 19th and conclude by 5PM on Tuesday May 21st. The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute, the training and research arm of the National Association of Attorneys General, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are co-sponsoring a free training from noon until 5PM on Tuesday May 21st, which will immediately follow the Tuesday morning sessions of the Consumer Protection Seminar at the Westin Georgetown. An agenda for this training will be circulated in the coming weeks. The training is open to all Attorneys General and their staff attending the Consumer Protection Seminar. Please RSVP to attend this training while registering through the below link.

The public portion of this seminar will begin with lunch at 12 noon on Monday, May 20th and conclude by 7 PM on Monday. Please register below before Monday April 29th in order to receive the early bird registration fee.

NAAG has reserved a block of rooms at the Westin Georgetown Hotel, located at 2350 M St NW, Washington, DC.  The room rate is $224 for single or double occupancy, plus tax.  Please make reservations by calling the hotel at 1-800-228-3000 or at 1-888-627-8406. Please be certain to mention the NAAG Consumer Protection Conference when making reservations to ensure that you receive the group rate. Reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card, and may be canceled up to 72 hours prior to the day of scheduled arrival without penalty.  The cut-off date to make hotel reservations is April 29, 2013.  After that date, the rooms in our block will be released to the general public, and we are expecting a higher than usual volume of occupancy at the hotel during the weekend of the seminar due to local university graduation ceremonies.

Transportation

The Westin Georgetown Hotel does not offer transportation; however, the hotel is accessible from three major airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (National Airport), Dulles International Airport, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI).

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

The Metrorail provides service from Reagan National Airport to Foggy Bottom - GWU, the closest Metrorail Station to the hotel. Board a Blue Line train heading in the direction of Largo Town Center to get to the Foggy Bottom GWU stop. Exit the Foggy Bottom station, which will bring you to 23rd and I Streets. After exiting the station, head north on 23rd  Street  towards   Washington Circle. Walk through Washington Circle and stay on 23rd Street. The Westin Georgetown will be on your left when you reach M Street.  The walk is approximately four-tenths of a mile. The cost is $3.05 one way, and the trip takes approximately 20 minutes. Metrorail is the least expensive form of transportation. Taxi service is also available at the airport to the hotel for $20-$30 per trip.

From Dulles International Airport

  1. You can arrange for a SuperShuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com) van from Dulles to the hotel by calling 1-800-BLUEVAN.  The SuperShuttle ticket counter is located on the lower level just before the East and West exits. The cost is $29 for the first passenger.

  2. Washington Flyer Coach Service (http://www.washfly.com/) offers transportation from Dulles to the West Falls Church Metrorail station. Tickets can be purchased at its ticket counter located inside the vestibule of Door 4 on the baggage claim level. You can also make a reservation at 1-888-WASHFLY. The cost is $10 one-way or $18 round-trip. 

*** Upon reaching the West Falls Church Metrorail station, board an Orange Line train in the direction of New Carrollton. Take the train to Foggy Bottom GWU, the 7th stop. Exit the Foggy Bottom station, which will bring you to 23rd and I Streets. After exiting the station, head north on 23rd Street  towards  Washington Circle. Walk through Washington Circle and stay on 23rd Street. The Westin Georgetown will be on your left when you reach M Street.  The walk is approximately four-tenths of a mile.

From Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

  1. You can arrange for a SuperShuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com) van from BWI to the hotel by calling 1-800-BLUEVAN. The cost is $37 for the first passenger.

  2. MARC trains (www.mtamaryland.com) and AMTRAK trains (www.amtrak.com) can be reached by a free shuttle at the terminal to the BWI Rail Station (410-672-6169). AMTRAK trains cost $12-18 one-way for a regional train and $25-$40 for Acela Express trains. MARC trains cost $7 one-way. Both arrive at Union Station in Washington, DC.

*** From Union Station in Washington, DC, head to the Metrorail platform and board a Red Line train in the direction of Shady Grove or Grosvenor. Transfer trains at Metro Center and take a Blue Line train in the direction of Franconia-Springfield or an Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna. Take the Foggy Bottom GWU stop. Exit the Foggy Bottom station, which will bring you to 23rd and I Streets. After exiting the station, head north on 23rd Street  towards  Washington Circle. Walk through Washington Circle and stay on 23rd Street. The Westin Georgetown will be on your left when you reach M Street.  The walk is approximately four-tenths of a mile.
