AG Employee Spotlight
Some things just come naturally. This certainly characterizes Pat Witte because she uses her strong organizational and administrative skills as the executive assistant for the Georgia Office of Attorney General. Nine years ago, Pat received a call from then Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker to be his executive assistant and she accepted the challenge. She remained in the position after Attorney General Sam Olens took office earlier this year.
In addition to adjusting to working for a new Attorney General, Pat is busy with the day-to-day responsibilities in her position. She oversees Attorney General Olens’ calendar, coordinates his meetings, fields requests, and handles logistics for events. She enjoys working for the office but recognizes its limitations. “I find the work fulfilling but the most challenging part is dealing with citizens with serious issues and we can’t help them for whatever reason,” she said. “We attempt to refer them to the appropriate agencies, but it’s difficult to tell them that we can’t help.”
Pat’s favorite NAAG memory is interacting with the staff, Attorneys General and their staff during the 2007 centennial celebration in Atlanta. “That was a great time to finally put names to faces with the NAAG staff and meet other Attorneys General,” she said. “I enjoyed seeing it all come together and being a part of that process.”
Pat works hard but she plays hard too. When she is not working she is either spending time with her four grandchildren or riding her trike, a Harley Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle. She rode her trike to the Sturgis, S.D., rally five times. Pat resides in Atlanta with her family.
