AG Employee Spotlight

As a former journalist, Allison Martin has had many exciting experiences throughout her career. Luckily, the same thing is true of her current position as deputy attorney general for administration and director of communications for the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office. In this role, her responsibilities include overseeing the internal and external communications of the office, managing administration of the front office and developing and implementing policy initiatives.

“It helps to have such a great communications staff and Attorney General staff that it's easy for me to focus on the big picture items and other priorities,” she said. “I was worried when I left the television news business that I would miss the adrenaline, but this job certainly brings new opportunities and challenges every day.”

Allison has enjoyed working with Attorney General Jack Conway since he took office in 2008. She especially finds her involvement in implementing his drug abuse prevention program for middle and high school students tremendously rewarding.

Before joining Attorney General Conway’s staff, Allison served as deputy communications director for Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, who is currently the lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Prior to that, she worked as an award-winning criminal justice reporter and anchor for WBKO-TV in Bowling Green, Ky., and WLKY-TV in Louisville.

Allison is a native of Glasgow, Ky., and a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She received her B.S. in journalism with minors in Spanish and sociology. She lives in Louisville with her husband and two children. She is active in supporting initiatives at her children's elementary school and is a true Kentuckian -- she enjoys horseracing and all its traditions.
