Civil Rights

The Civil Rights Project focus provides information and support to the states on affirmative civil rights issues developed and implemented largely through the efforts of five Task Forces and their related subcommittees. The Task Force areas are Bias Crimes, Disability in Public Accommodations Discrimination, Employment Discrimination, Housing Discrimination and Mortgage Lending Discrimination.

The Project Manager facilitates communication, joint initiatives, and resource sharing among the states and the federal agencies of the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. This effort is administered as a result of several Memorandum of Understanding entered into by the Association and these agencies, which goal is to establish institutional mechanisms for such communication.
