A Preview of The 2012 Supreme Court Term

It’s that time of year again. No, not football season – Supreme Court season! Next week, the Court will begin another Term. The Court has agreed to hear 33 cases so far, filling up its October, November, and December argument sessions.

AG Spotlight
Since being elected in 2010, Guam Attorney General Lenny Rapadas has accomplished much in a short time in office. His most significant achievement to date is setting the parameters within which the Guam legislature can work regarding the U.S. Constitution, the Guam Organic Act, and the separation of powers. He issued several opinions early in his term that drew that line for the legislature.

“Minimum Contacts” in the Yottabyte Age1

In International Shoe v. Washington, 326 U.S. 310 (1945), the U.S. Supreme Court established the constitutional requirement that before a court can exercise personal jurisdiction over a party, that party must have certain minimum contacts with the forum in which the court sits. However, the test for personal jurisdiction becomes more difficult to define when the minimum contacts were established online.
