The Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau uses criminal and civil enforcement authority to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices in automobile sales, construction fraud, and predatory debt collection, among other areas. It also protects fair and open competition by investigating and enjoining illegal combinations and monopolies, as well as unfair methods of competition in various industries, with a particular emphasis on the healthcare industry.
Responsibilities
Attorneys in the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau are responsible for investigating unlawful business practices that harm consumers, recommending appropriate enforcement actions, and litigating cases–including NH Supreme Court appeals. They also work closely with other state attorneys general, US DOJ, and the Federal Trade Commission to investigate and prosecute unlawful business practices with nation-wide impact.
Qualifications
Applicants should be highly motivated, organized, and capable of handling a diverse caseload in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Prior civil or criminal litigation experience is preferred but not required.
