Washington, D.C. — The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), the training and research arm of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), is pleased to announce that it has named Professor Paul Nolette of Marquette University its Research Consultant to further its research objectives.

Created in 2007, NAGTRI’s mission is to provide high-quality, non-partisan, and innovative training, research, and other developmental resources to support state and territorial attorneys general offices. In his role as NAGTRI Research Consultant, Professor Nolette will compile and publish data and visualizations on the duties of the nation’s attorneys general, as well as conduct research on issues and policies important to their work.

“Professor Nolette is well known and respected for his scholarship and research on issues related to the work of attorneys general,” said NAGTRI Director Amy Tenney Curren. “As NAGTRI’s research consultant, he will help to expand NAGTRI’s research efforts to support and promote the important work of our members.”

Nolette is Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Political Science Department at Marquette University where he focuses on the dynamics of contemporary American federalism as well as the interplay between politics and law. He received his Ph.D. in political science at Boston College, a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, and a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Anselm College. After law school, Nolette worked in a litigation law firm and later served as the legal counsel for the Labor and Workforce Development Committee in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

“I am excited to join NAGTRI’s efforts to both support the work of attorneys general and to broaden public understanding of these increasingly important offices,” said Nolette.
