The Office of Attorney General Tim Griffin is seeking to hire an attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division.  Come and be a part of a dynamic team that passionately works to see that justice is served in the final criminal review process.  This position offers research, writing, litigation, and oral advocacy opportunities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include preparation of responses to habeas corpus petitions in the United States District Courts and state courts; writing appellate briefs for the Arkansas appellate courts, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals; conducting evidentiary hearings in the federal district courts and State courts; and presenting oral arguments to the Arkansas appellate courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  The position involves death penalty litigation.  Litigation experience and criminal law experience are preferred

Qualifications

The position’s minimum requirements include:

  • A license to practice law in Arkansas or the ability to quickly obtain an Arkansas license; and
  • Demonstrated experience producing work that is thorough, accurate, and timely.
