Smith Food & Drug Centers, Inc. exited California and sought antitrust review of proposed sales of supermarket sites to other supermarket operators. The sale of 17 stores to other supermarket operators was approved. It agreed to obtain prior approval for the sale of the remaining 19 stores if sold in the next five (5) years to another supermarket operator.
